Homemade muffins

I love to bake! However I haven't been baking for so long that I can't remember when was the last time I baked. Recently the "urge" came back and I wanted to bake again.

At first I was going to bake something more 'complex' ('complex', in my term means mixing and measuring the raw materials from start to finish, not using the premix packets). However due to the time constraints (we will be going to overseas soon, we aimed not to cook anything exciting this week so we can keep our fridge as empty as possible) I can only make something small, simple and quick.

Anyway, I spotted this packet in the supermarket, you only needed to put milk into this premix powder and then it's ready to go in the oven.

Cupcakes on Pitt, Sydney

I've been waiting to visit this place for quite some time now - they only open during office hours on weekdays and Saturdays from 10am - 4pm.

On that day, we went to this cafe after lunch so it was afternoon time. the shop was sooo small (only 2 tables were in the shop) we had to takeaway the cupcakes.

Uncle Tobys Internal Announcement

Today at work there was some internal product launch from Uncle Tobys. They invited Grant Hackett, Libby Lenton, and Kieren Perkins to the launch. Therefore we were lucky enough to see them in person, they all looked very fit and alot nicer in person than on TV:)

Daytrip to the Blue Mountains

Last time we went to Blue mountains was around 2 years ago, just before I left my 2nd company for the 3rd. I remembered that I coughed all the way during the whole trip. Wasn't very fun at all.

We went again this time because we made an appointment with our harpist to organise the ceremony music that will be played at our wedding. Plus a day trip getting away from Sydney is always good :)

We arrived at the harpist's place at around 11am and listened to her play for about one hour. I quite liked the mellowness of the instrument.

After that we went to Echo Point to enjoy the view - it's a must-go place for tourists. We later on went to Leura for lunch.

Night out with Winnie

Winnie and I met at Uni. Since our backgrounds are similar ie we studied the same subjects, shared alot of common topics, etc, we became good friends since then. We've been through good times as well as bad. She's one of my few friends that plays guitar and likes hard rock music which I regularly hang around with. In a nutshell, she is one of my best friends I met in Sydney.

For my bday this year, she decided to take me to this place that was referred by a colleague of hers. When I had a look at the website, the first impression I got was, um, modern fusion Singaporean?? Anyway we were willing to give it a go.
We arrived there around 10 mins late (because we were trying to find the address b4 we started the car!), the waiter seemed to be pretty polite and helpful. Since the restaurant was way too dark, we didn't take alot of pictures of the room - we even needed to use a torch to read the menu!

We ordered two dishes - one congee and one chilli crab (the chilli crab needed to be preordered one day before).

When the congee arrived, we looked at each other - um, the bowl so "big"!! On a cold, wet winter night, we would expect something a little bigger. The taste was quite unique, as I have never tried the combination with congee and alcohol - it had a strong taste of Chinese wine in the dish.

The dish we came all the way for. The display of the dish was very nice, however it looked like the crab was still alive! We LOVE the sauce, we even order some rice just to have it with the sauce!:)

I wonder how this dish would compare with the true, authentic ones in Singapore. Can't wait!!

Since we only had two tiny dishes for dinner, we obviously still had room for dessert. Winnie said she wouldn't mind going to the Lindt cafe at the Cockle Bay Wharf since she had never been there before. When we arrived @ the Lindt cafe, the cafe was closed at 7pm on a Wednesday night! We were naturally disappointed. Since we didn't have anywhere to go, we went the the closest cafe we could think of - the Blackbird Cafe.

The both desserts were pretty nice, but of course not as nice as the Lindt ones!! :)
